    1. [HODGES-L] Civil War database....only half done
    2. The Civil War data base only lists about half of the soldiers that served.....lucky us that are in that half!!!! I put in the state of Indiana and only 4 names are listed....so that's one that has a ways to go yet.....see below. connie ~~~~~~~~~~~~ __It is not hard to find histories of the monumental figures of the Civil War. Documents and histories abound for Abraham Lincoln and Robert E. Lee. Records of individual soldiers, however, are not so easy to find. The Civil War Research Database is a historic effort to compile and link all available records of common soldiers in the Civil War. Historic Data Systems has compiled and interlinked a wide array of records including state rosters, pension records, regimental histories, photos, and journals. The genealogical value of this record is immeasurable. More than authoritative names and dates, this database connects researchers with the history their ancestors lived. __The database is a work in progress. Considering the scope of its ambition, the amount of data already available is impressive. The project to date has digitized, indexed, and interlinked the roster records of 2,100,000 soldiers (out of approx. 4,000,000 who served), 2,719 regimental chronicles, 1,010 officer profiles, 3,343 battle synopses, and 1,012 soldier photographs. As the database continues to grow, so will the impact of this unique genealogical resource. Copyright 1997, 1998, 1999 - Historical Data Systems Inc. P.O. Box 196 Kingston, MA 02364

    1. [HODGES-L] Charles Jefferson
    2. Hi, I am looking for information about Charles Jefferson Hodges who was born around 1876 in Ft. Valley, Georgia. At least that is the information I have. He had six sibs--James, Curtis, Frank, Molly, Ludy, and Lillian. All had middle names of presidents. There might be the names Cox and Rockamore some where in the background. I don't know. Thanks, Sue Carmody

    1. [HODGES-L] Cluster page
    2. Diana Flynn
    3. There is a new resource, Classified Ads Boards, that can now be found from a link on the cluster page for our surname. As you know the Cluster page serves as a navigation aid to all resources for our surname housed on RootsWeb. The Cluster page for the HODGES surname can be found at: http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/h/o/HODGES/ You know that advertising (even when it can be helpful in our genealogical research) is generally not allowed on our mailing list and GenConnect boards. In an effort to help genealogists locate genealogical items, or list items being offered for sale, for example, out of print books you might be looking to sell or purchase, RootsWeb has created Classifieds at RootsWeb. These Classified Ad Boards work in the same way the GenConnect boards work and are only to be used for items of a genealogical nature pertaining to the surname shown on the board. These boards provide an outlet to help in our research for items that couldn't be properly listed elsewhere on RootsWeb. Enjoy them and use them to your best advantage!
