Diane, Please contact Marsa Hightower at: MarsaH@aol.com She can get you straight on this one. All I am sure of at this time is that Elmarine died on 27 March 1864. Fleming married (2) Elizabeth Ellen Horsley Dyer on 20 November 1866. Elizabeth's husband had died leaving her with one child, a daughter Harriet Brazer Dyer. George Washington Hodges, s/o Fleming and Elmarine married his step sister Harriet Brazier Dyer 6 January 1869. I am not sure but I think Fleming Wylie Hodges was a son of George and Harriet Hodges. Hi! I am also looking for Hodges in New York. I went to your website and hoped I would find more about Josiah, his children's names, etc. to see if I can make a connection. I am looking for the parents of Hulda and Curtis Hodge. I believe they are brother and sister. Hulda married Solomon Leonard and all of their children were born in N.Y. I do not know if Hulda was born in N.Y. I have found 3 men named Curtis Hodge who are from the same family, but don't know yet if they are connected to Hulda. Her oldest children were born in Washington Co., N.Y. Hulda and her family lived briefly in Chenango Co. where a son, Curtis H. Leonard was born in about 1798. Solomon and Hulda next moved to Onondaga Co. where other children were born, one of them being my 3rd great grandmother, Mary. (Curtis Hodge, Sr. and Jr. also lived in Onondaga Co. at the same time.) Solomon and Hulda moved on to Tompkins Co. by about 1817 and there he died in 1825. Hulda moved by about 1830 to Bradford Co., PA where she died in 1842. Her cemetery information notes her date of birth as 21 July 1768, but I have no proof of that. Curtis Hodge, Sr. and Jr. were in Ohio by about 1840 or so. They joined the Mormon Church there. I lost them both after that except for a notation in some Mormon records that at least one of them was in Missouri when the Mormons were there. (Mary, dau. of Solomon and Hulda, also joined the Mormons around this time. I have quite a bit about her and her husband, Benoni Campbell, and their children.) Does this figure into any of your information. I do have more than outlined here, but if none of this fits with your family, there is no reason for me to provide it all. I have a lot of Hodge information having been involved in the N.Y. research for about 20 years. But, so far I have only been able to find people who do not belong to my family. I hesitate to subscribe to the newsletter without knowing more about what is in it. I hope you can help. Kathleen Barrett Port Angeles, WA
Hi--I have a Robert Neil Hodge who I am trying to trace. He was born (supposedly in Scotland ) in 1809. He joined the British East India Co. in 1823. I have the half of a Bible split with his sister at that time. Her name was Mary (Paris). In 1826, he married in Gillingham Kent to a Sarah Woodger Jury. Their first daughter was born on St. Helena in October of 1826. In 1830 he was in Edinburgh Scotland working as a shoemaker (family occupation). A second daughter was born there. In 1838 he was working for the Sydney NSW police dept as a clerk. He arrived in NSW about 1836-38. He was in Victoria, Australia when his youngest daughter married (I think about 1855). I have NO record of him or his wife after that date. It's like they disappeared. The Bible passed through their eldest daughter (Margaret Sophia Hodge who married 1. Watt, 2.Morton, 3. Johnson) and her youngest daughter to her eldest daughter-my grandmother to me My grandmother moved to Canada in 1922. Any help is welcome. Katrina Linkk
