Linda, sounds like you have been working hard. The entire list will benefit from this. Did you include HODGE? I would love to have a copy of everyone you do. I think this concerns us all and should be sent to the list, if possible. Otherwise, you are going to be sending lots of e-mails. I have been researching the Hodges family of Franklin County for more than 18 years. I am aware of no resource that sorts them out. I have attempted to sort them into family groups, and my tentative conclusion is that almost all can be identified as descendants of Isham Hodges, William Hodges (probably, but not clearly, the son of Isham Hodges), Josiah Hodges, Robert Hodges, or Abednego Hodges. The relationship of those four is a matter of more or less educated guesswork (less in most cases). Even today, Hodges is one of the most common names in Franklin County. I doubt if there is any other way than to figure out if your Elijah is in the 1860 Census (I think there is an every name index for that year), and if not, get the list of Hodges from the 1854 Personal property tax list and compare that to 1860, and start concentrating on the families that moved away in between. I know that sounds tedious, but there may be no help for it. Bob Hodges ----- Original Message ----- From: Alison D. Sorry, I haven't researched any Benjamins - altho I do have a few records on about 5 probably differnet ones. Benj m. to Rebecca had a dau Jane m. James Hodges. James was son of James Hodges and Charity Judkins of Old Fort, Beautfort Co. NC. Benj and Jane left one son and 3 daus, but no names. this note attached to record says (Here end Mrs. Credle's records.) I have this under Henry Hodges mentions a Benjamin. COLONIAL & REV. FAMILIES IN NC Henry Hodges dies in 1802, (son of Richard and grandson of Robert of Bertie) married Mary. Their children (from Book P. (2) James Hodges married Charity Judkins, and had issue, (q.v.) (3) Henry Hodges Jr. (No further record) (4) Sarah Hodges married ? Williams. (Her father deeded land to Godfrey Williams "for love and affection". He may have been Sarah's husband or her son) (5) Rachel Hodges married ? Cherry, (who may have been named Charles). (6) Richard Hodges died in Beaufort Co., NC prior to May Term of Court 1827. He married first Annie Page 229 Peakins and second Rebecca ? who died in Beaufort Co., NC prior to Dec. My grandmother Verba HUGHES of Graves Co. KY and McCracken Co., KY had a picture of a gentleman taken probably in the 1800's, but maybe in the very early 1900's. The back says MILTON LEWIS's papa age 57. Verba father was from Robertson and Sumner Co., TN. All the pictures found with this were pictures of relatives to the Hughes or Hodges. Does any one know Milton Lewis and maybe his father? Anyone interested I will send a copy to you, if you will email me directly at mhodge@apex.net
