    2. My name is Susan Lulloff and I am a descendant of Sophia Jane Hodges b. 10 Nov 1821 in Beaufort County, NC and her husband Mack Gilbert Mitchell b. 1819 in NC They migrated to Union County MS. Apparently they were married in NC as they had 3 children when they came to Mississippi. Their 9 children are: James Henry (my ancestor), John Hodges, Rebecca Jane, Mary E., Frances L., Martha A, Susan, Sarah M., and Mack. We were told by Jim Gilliam of Myrtle MS, (now dec) that she was the daughter of Jim and Jennie Hodges and the sister of Betsy Hodges (m. Ben Perkins), Agnes Hodges, and Louis Hodges (who was suppose to have received the home place. Apparently he had had contact with the family at one time but we have no other records and I am not sure where to look. We also do not know anything on Sophia's husband's family. James Henry was suppose to have had a brother Godfrey and a sister Susan but that is all we know. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Susan

    3. Hi, Linda - and welcome to the list! Inrtriguing, your Hodges/Neal ties to Halifax County. I've been looking to the Bedford County area because I know from others' research that some Hodges families moved to Kentucky from there, and William Hodges was married in, and died in, Kentucky. How does your data fit in with that? 1. [HODGES-L] Harold Hodges asks for more about William
    2. Kurt Pickering
    3. Hi Harold, Trouble is, I know very little about William. He was born in Virginia in March 1764; married Elizabeth Neale in Harrison County, Ky., on 1 NOV 1797; and died in Boone County, Ky., on 18 MAY 1834. The only child I know of - certainly not to say their only child - was John William Hodges, 1799-c1860. John William's grandson was my great grandfather. I do have some notes I typed up after reviewing a massive amount of research a lady posted a few months ago. Because William was born in Virginia, I think he fits in - but I haven't figured out how. Maybe among us all we can figure it out: <cut> While we don't have even a county on William's birth, or much other life event info, we have one individual's metric ton of research about Hodgeses, et. var., in Virginia. They were primarily in Franklin County, and this is in the neighborhood of Bedford County - where William's daughter-in-law Ally Siner was born. The family even moved to Kentucky, although it seems to be too late to be a direct match with ours since John William was born in Kentucky in 1799. Even so, there is even a reference to Harrison County, KY - where Nancy Correll's data says William himself married. <paste> Both my GEDCOM and Nancy Correll's are posted at WorldConnect. Closed circuit to Harold - I do have a Missouri brick wall in another line ... where is Sikesville? Think you might lend me a hand? Researching these 8 greats: Pickering-Snyder-Roach-Teegardin-Hodges-Evans-Kantner-Shifflet + these contributing Hodges/Evans lines: Loveless-Dunham-Siner-Sparks-Neal-Maladay And, of course, many more! 3. Hi, PJ... Whoops - you're so right, I got the initials mixed up. John T. was Harden's son, but Harden had a BROTHER named John M. That's according to genealogist Ray Correll (a Hodges descendant who met my great-aunt Beulah when he was young), supported by U.S. census entries. Unfortunately, from what you've written I don't have a thing you don't - I'm still working only vertically and so I have virtually nothing on Harden's children other than my great grandpa Emery Charles, or on Harden's brothers. And you and I brick-wall in the same place, with William Hodges and Elizabeth "Betsy" Neal. I got there mostly through Ray's work, supported/augmented by census and LDS IGI entries. And by the way, as for small worlds and La Vergne and Smyrna, I live SO close to Smyrna that I have a La Vergne street address and a Smyrna phone number - how 'bout that? In fact, the reason I never go to the Smyrna Air Show is that I watch it from my back deck! 3. Kurt, How are things in Lavergne? I used to live just a hop and a skip away from you in Smyrna---small world!!! Thanks for your response to my Hodges S. O. S.!!! I am not too familiar with your lineage, but wasn't John T. the son of Harden and not his younger brother???? Here is what I have of this line: John William Hodges (1799-1860) married Alice Siner (1799-????): Their chidlren were: Sally H.; Louisa; Harden; Caroline; Mary A.; Sarah; Cynthia H.; and John M. Harden (1824-1858) married Phoebe S. Loveless (1828-1906) on 13 March 1844 in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana. They were the parents of the following children: Martha, Alamassa, Franklin, Mary, Emery Charles, Sr., Henry, Katherine, John T., Narcissa A., and Hugh. That is all I have! Could you provide me with dates and locations for the above mentioned people and their descendants? I would greatly appreciate a genealogical report (with sources) so I can bring my records up to date. Have you been able to go back any further than William's parents, William Sr. (1764-1834) and Elizabeth Neal (1775-1832)???? Well, I will let you go and will be waiting to hear from you again.
