    1. [Hodge] HODGE, Edmund & Charles & Francis in Bedford Co., TN 1820
    2. Dear Gerry: Thanks so much for the information. Maybe that's part of my problem ... I'm looking for Hodge and it could very well be listed as Hodges. I keep coming back to the fact that there is an Edmund Hodge, Charles Hodge, & one I can hardly decipher that might be Francis Hodge .... all listed as head of households in Bedford Co., TN in the 1820 census and they all have a male child under 5 years old. Our NATHAN HODGE was born in 1816. I don't believe that your Edmund Hodges b. 1793 can be the same Edmund as in Bedford Co., TN in 1830. The Edmund Hodge listed in 1830 census, it shows that he and his wife are both over 45. That would place his birth at 1785 at the earliest. However, it is entirely possible that this is the same family group. Especially with the same names, maybe cousins, uncles, etc. I will definitely explore that possibility. Then in the 1830 census there is a John Paterack, William, Riley & Isaac Hodge. Willliam has a male 80-90 and one 70-80 living with him Isaac has a male 60-70 and one 70-80 living with him John is under 50 Paterack is under 40 Riley is under 40 I'm making a lot of assumptions here. Those census records before 1830 were difficult to decipher. After you sent me all that stuff by fax, I did go to the genealogy library last week and spent a few hours. Mainly I just did the Hodge in Census from 1810 up. I didn't really come up with much that is earth shattering, but I do have some good material to peruse in my spare time (ha!). I got the siblings of a branch of Hodge. That is the wife of Kindred Jackson Hodge who was Mary (Molly) Jones, daughter of Clinton A. Jones of Grainger or Bedford Co., TN. I believe that branch of the family might be Indian. She looks very Indian and we have always heard that she was Cherokee. Thanks for the response. We must get together for lunch soon. My next week is easy ... how about yours?
