Looking for information on Clifford HODGE, born in late 1890s or early 1900s to Griffith HODGE and Elizabeth LLewellyn of Illinois; had sister Bessie and brother Orville. At some point Clifford moved to Denver and died in early 1933. No further information known. Any information appreciated. Sharon
Ray - I suggest that you start with writing the State Dept. of Health for a copy of his death certificate. Request it from the Division of Statistics State Dept. of Health 3400 North Eastern Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73105 You will probably have to pay a modest fee (about $10) in most states. That document may furnish you with lots of good information depending upon who gave them the information. If you know where he is buried, go see if other family members are also located in the same cemetery. Search out the funeral home and see if they have a copy of the obit. from the local newspaper. Since Spiro, OK is near Fort Smith, Arkansas you may even find info on him in the newspapers there. I would search out the nearest big library or write to one in perhaps Muskogee if you can't go there. Good luck. Hi I have a William Hodge in my line b. April 1886 in MI. He was my Grandfather Earl's brother. Their father was Emery Hodge b. 1862 in MI. There is conflicting information regarding his parents in different census'. They may be from NY or Indiana. His father's name might be Riley. William's 2nd marriage was in 1913. I have no information whatsoever about the 1st. If anyone has any information about this line, please let me know. I am at a dead end using the resources I have. Cindy (Hodge) Wood
Tina: We have a Hodge family that lived in Lenawee Co., MI. We are stuck on Allen Clark Hodge (s) (it has been spelled both ways). He was b. 1831 in New York, married in Steuben Co., NY 1853 and died in Lenawee Co., MI 1895. He had 13 children. We don't have a William Hodge however one of his grand daughters, Alice Estelle Hodges m. Charles Adams 1913. Their son Paul Adams m. Emily Rozelle. Her last name is spelled differently but sounds the same. I thought this was close enough to be worth mentioning. In the census were any of your Hodge line born in NY? 3309 Fox Chase Ct. Midlothian, VA 23112
This is what I have on My William Henry Hodge. Born 11/5/1843 in Ravenna Ohio, Married Jennie Wade Jackson Rosell 4/30/1869 in Kansas, Their children 1. Albert Curtis Hodge 2. Hi Tina, Searched my files and only found one that was even close. William Henry was a pretty common name in the mid to late 1800's, in fact I have two in my line. 2 William Henry HODGES b: May 27, 1844 in Sumner Co, TN d: January 04, 1886 I think you need to look at the 1850 census in Ohio for William at age 7 and follow through the 1860 census until you see when they moved to Ks.. Look for any Hodge or Hodges with a son named William or Henry at about the correct age. Don't know where you live but most all larger libraries have microfilm with the census records. If you can't get them, try a query on Rootsweb for the correct county. Someone may have a copy and do a search for you. Let me know what you find and I'll try another search. Tina - I suggest that you look at the 1840 Fed. Census records for Ravenna, Ohio (East of Akron, Ohio & about 6 miles East of Kent State University). See if you can obtain an early History of that area. When was the first City directory for Akron published? Check the land records for that county in that time period. Church Records??? Ohio did not record birth & death records until Dec. 1908 which can be found through the Division of Vital Statistics State Dept. of Health G-20 State Dept. building Columbus, Ohio 43215 Cost: ? maybe $10 Happy hunting!! Any ideas about WHEN, year or a range of years; also WHERE? State or county? Do you know the names of their children? This may be a clue as to the parents. In older generations, pelple named their children after father or grandfather, mother or grandmother, etc. Gerry HODGES Hackley in Houston At 05:04 PM 6/29/2001 +0000, you wrote: >Hi ! > > Trying to find the parents of William Henry Hodge that married > Jennie Wade Jackson Rosell. Hi Sherma So far I haven't found anyone going to the States. I can go back as far as William H b 1771 who married Elizabeth Bryant in Tiverton, Devon, UK 20.3.1794. His father, I think , was Thomas H and Mayor of Tiverton in 1773..Later on two brothers (possibly twins) went to the States but died in UK. I don't know whether they married in the States or not. They were born in 1846 after the time you are looking at. So cannot help at this stage!
