Thomas, I can't help you with the Hodge name as far back as the 1600s. I am looking for my great grandmother, Lydia Ann Hodge, b 19 Jun 1843 in Otsego County New York, d 23 July 1904 in Princeton, Kansas. Her father was Edson Hodge, her mother was Ann. Any help would be appreciated. Feel free to email me. Max
Hi Gerry, It means "no further information" and I suppose I should have put it in parenthesis. All I have is a reference that states they married. Have no idea who he was and haven't been able to find anything. Ken At 07:54 AM 08/01/2001 -0700, you wrote: >Ken - What is "NFI"??? Gerry HODGES Hackley in Houston >

Hi Cousin, Rachel md. a Robert Hodge NFI, issue; Bartholomew , Emeline, Priscilla, Talitha, William, Moses, and John b. 1834 (my G-Grandfather). John md. Mary Jane King and had issue: Lucinda F., Robert Moses, Susan Caroline, Rachel Elizabeth, Almyra, Anne Priscilla, William Henry and James Ambrose (my Grandfather). My evidence indicates that the Ambrose who married Elizabeth Barton was an uncle of our Ambrose who was born in Ireland ca 1767. Our Ambrose immigrated to Philadelphia in 1772 with his parents, Francis and Martha (Sproat) Hodge. Hi, No, I don't find a Bryce or Brice in my Hodge lines. If I don't have another crash, I'll save your message in case I run across him. My Hodge's were from TN but they moved to KY. Barb T
Would you have any knowledge of a Luke Lee Hodge, b August 08, 1833 in Grainger Co., Tn. Luke was my great grandfather. Could Luke and your John be of the same family? I'm new to the Hodge list and wondering if anyone can help. Our Hodge line is through my father, who was born in Tennessee. His great-grandfather was John Hodge, born in 1834 in Grainger county. John's mother was Rachel Hodge, daughter of Ambrose and Elizabeth Barton Hodges, born in 1793. I've come to a dead end finding any information on Ambrose Hodge or Hodges. I've seen it spelled both ways. I also have no information on Rachel's husband/s or even if she was married. She had several children with the last name Hodge, which is kind of odd. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Barbara, I noticed your post on Sunday on Hodge families. I have an ancestor, Brice (or Bryce) Hodge. I have searched for years trying to find something of his family, parents, siblings, etc. to no avail. The first account of him is in Bibb Co. AL when he married Fanny Clardy on l9 Nov. l824. He bought patent lands of about 700 acres in Pickens Co. AL where Brice and Fanny settled. I have good information on both Brice and Fanny from the time of their marriage to their deaths in Pickens Co. AL. According to census records of this family in Pickens Co. AL, Brice was born abt. l779-l800 in Tennessee. Fanny was born in South Carolina. Do you have any information on a Brice Hodge? If so, I will very much appreciate having any information or just a clue to his background. Thank you for your time. Eugenia --- Rains Barbara <barbrains2@yahoo.com> wrote: > I have a Benjamin M. Hi, I had a kind of crash and lost over 2000 saved messages which contained the families and email addresses of the folks I've talked with for the past couple years. I have a favor to ask, that if they don't mind, would my correspondents send me a brief message so I'll have their addresses back? Thanks and sorry for off topic msg. Barb T

Since the HODGE list is so hot with activity right now, I thought I'd throw my inquiry into the fray again. My brick wall has been trying to trace my g-grandmother Louise HODGE b.1869 in KY. She married my g-grandfather Harris WHITAKER, and marriage records for Magoffin Co., KY show they were married there on January 16, 1889 -- however, Louise is listed as "Louise ARNETT" instead of "Louise HODGE", as the family believes her maiden name to be. They eventually came to Texas, and I have found them in the 1910 census for Hill Co. TX. Their children include: Minnie Lou, Oscar, Beulah, Bertha, Elmer, Jack, Clifton, and Oneta. Louise spent her last years in the area of San Angelo and Abilene, TX. I believe she died about 1963. Some of her children as adults lived in West Texas, New Mexico, and Dallas. If anyone recognizes this Louise or her family, I would love to hear from you. I would also appreciate any suggestions as to how I might continue my hunt. Thanks for your help. Where is your Hodge line from?
I have come across the name of Charles. I will have to dig through my info to see what I can find. When I first started out with the Hodge research, I stuck to SC, except for my direct line which I knew had moved on to GA. Many of the people that I found only a few times, I assumed had died early. I have not done any research in AL. It now appears that many of these people moved on to AL or other places. Please let me know any Hodge that you find in AL and I will dig and see what I can find on them in SC. Even my direct line John has unaccounted for sons that only appeared in the early census were they were only counted by approximate age. We need to do lots more digging in NC too. I know the Sumter families came from there and most probably, at the same time that some of the family moved into SC others of the same lines moved on to other places. I hope that before long we will make some new discoveries. Several people show info different from mine. So far I have not been able to get them to tell me why they chose to list different info. What I have is document, except for a few good guesses with the early people. I am always happy to correct my info, if others will just tell me why it should be changed. I have 3 older ones that were not on the 1850 or 1860 census, they were. George W. Hodge 1824-1877 Gabriel 1825 Thomas Hodge 1837 Bobby
Thanks, Faye. I'll file this away in case I ever find the connection. By the way, I just tried to e-mail someone who had an old query in the Sumter Co., SC website about Charles Hodge who was born 1806 in Sumter Co., SC and moved to Troy, AL in 1831. The e-mail was undeliverable (probably because the address was two years old), but I was wondering if you know anything about this person? His date of birth is two years older than my Miles, and he moved to Troy, AL (in the Alabama stomping grounds of Miles and family) one year before Miles married Frances Wheeler in 1832 in Montgomery Co., AL.
