I think I missed the earlier notes on Michigan Hodge. I have a great uncle John Hodge and his brother Ed. They were born in the 1880's. One, I believe John, died in Michigan. I did not think he had any children. If this could be the same John; let me know. Bob Evans
Seeking information about the descendants of John HODGE (b. 1825) who arrived in Boston from Cork Ireland in 1852, declared intent in 1855, and was naturalized in 1862 (witnesses Michael HODGE and Peter LYNCH). He was son of John and Johanna Hodge. - He was a teamster in Cambridge and married Annie GILMARTIN (?) in 1856, the same day his brother Joseph married Catherine CARLON. They had several children - Richard, John Jr., Mary, Johanna, Margaret, Michael, and Thomas, all born Boston. - In 1896, Joanna, John, Richard, and Thomas were living at 9 Beacon Street in Arlington MA. - Son Michael married Annie MC GOVERN, daughter of James and Roseanna Mullen McGovern (of Ireland) who was born in Boston. - Michael and Annie had four daughters, Gertrude (b. 1898, married Charles TOOMY), twins Anna (never married) and Rose (m. Richard WALSH), and Vonnie (m. Louis JOHNSON). - I'd love to find some cousins! Thanks, Susan Toomy, Daytona Beach FL
Looking for descandants of William HODGE and his wife Elizabeth (nee BRYANT), married 1794 Tiverton, Devon. Children:- William Henry c1800, John c 1800, James Bryant b 1802, Harriet b 1804, Maria b 1806, Thomas b 1809, Mary Ann b 1810 and Robert b 1812 (all b's c in Taunton)
I recommend that you order a copy of your grandfather's death certificate from the state where he died. This may give you the name of his parents, depending upon the knowledge of the person completing the certificate. Also, look for copies of any deeds he may have had, wills or probate records. Happy hunting. Gerry HODGES Hackley in Houston At 02:32 AM 8/8/2001 -0600, you wrote: >My name is Heather Gahrmann. My grandfather was August Paul Jr. and my >grandmother was Shirley Lawrence. Hi - I looked in the book the "Genealogical Record of The HODGES Family of New England, ending December 31, 1894. Third Edition compiled by Almon d. Hodges, Jr. and other members of the family. Printed for the Family in Boston by Frank H. Hodges. 1896. And did not find them; however, I could have missed them as there are lots of William's and James. I looked for Elizabeth Bryant without success. Since you have fmily from Conn. I would join the Society for Genealogical Research in New England as you may find info on them there. Most of the previously mentioned book is about the Taunton Branch of Hodges. Happy hunting. My name is Heather Gahrmann. My grandfather was August Paul Jr. and my grandmother was Shirley Lawrence. I am shocked to find out that there are other people on this site with the same family background. I am looking for any info anyone can give me on my history. My family lives in Hampton, E. Hartford, Essex, Old Saybrook, and Norwich CT. My grandmother is in a nursing home up there and is too sick to tell me anything. My grandfather died when my dad Robert was 11. My great Aunt Lilian Gahrmann passed away about 2 years ago.
Please contact me. I had a greatgrandfather that came from Cornwall. Hope to make a connection. Thank you
I have no idea where they are buried. I was back East when I was about 7 or 8 in both Grayling and Michigan. And again in 1941. I think we were in Lewiston, but I don't remember too much. Do you live in Michigan. I live in Arizona now. My Mothe and Father came to Calif. about 1922. Uncle John and Aunt Floss visited us in California several times. Your Dad also visited us when he wen to boot camp as a Marine in San Diego. I have a picture of him in uniform, on leave. I know Gerald died some time ago but I do not know when. I kind of lost contact when my parents died. I do have a picture that my cousin Betty Hafner sent me. It is a family picture of Grandpa and Grandma and their 6 kids.
I'm Gerald and Marion's youngest...Seems I remember meeting Uncle Erv once at a family reunion in Port Austin or there abouts....Did you visit Lewiston a lot?Where is George buried?I don't think it's in Roseville and it has always been a mystery with my family.I know George John R's son is buried with them but not George Sr...
I had an Aunt Angie Thompson in Detroit. Children, Geraldine and I think Alvin. Although they may have been the children of her sister Jane
Hi Elizabeth. Yep I do believe we made a connection. Aunt Floss and Uncle John had 3 children Roy, Gerald and Wanda. Which one is your parent? Van Pattton was George A. Hodge's Mother name. I believe it is Mandamy Van Patten and she was Pennsylvania Dutch.

Seems like I recall that name. Interesting stuff my dear. Hope all is well in the north. Keep up the search. One should ask Tiny and Jenneatte(however you spell it). Seeing as they probably might be able to know something more. I think Jenneatte has info traced back a long ways on the Hodge's You know we came over on the May Flower or was it the Pinto?!?! I'm not kidding. The Pinto was a rough ride and didn't like hills/waves whatever. Lets see if you get this. My question is did Mr Asparagus have any wife or children? I found he was listed in Spooner as a resident. Keep up the good work! ARRGG this is why the laundry isn't done!!
