    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Hodge Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RUj.2ACIB/873.1 Message Board Post: I was interested to read your message. My great grandmother was Lydia Hodge, born 1843 in Otsego County New York. I have been searching for her parents, Edson and Ann Hodge. The Otsego County connection sounds coinsedental except for two other things. John Abel Gould married Lydia Hodge and they lived for a time in DeKalb County Illinois. My grandfather, Willis Gould, son of Ann Hodge may be a namesake of your Hodge. I thought this might be of interest to you. Any info on Edson and Ann Hodge? Cordially, Max Gould

    3. Bob - I do not presently have anything on any HODGES/HODGE in Brown co., TX; however, it is next door to Comanche County, TX where I do have some cousins. Those cousins previously lived in Johnson Co., TX and Itawamba Co., MS as descendantss of Isaac Allen Hodges and Dennis Newton Hodges. Dennis Newton HODGES had a sister, Letha Jane HODGES who married Franklin Murrow Herring 2 Oct 1856 in Itawamba Co., MS and d. 1913 in Comanche, Comanche Co., TX. Her children were: Frances Rebecca Herring, James Benjamin Herring, Sarah Louise Herring, Cordalia Herring, Dennis Murrow Herring, b. 1 Mar 1870 and Isaac Andrew Herring, b. 9 Nov 1873 Alvarado, Johnson Co., TX; m. 22 Dec 1895 in Comanche Co., TX and to Frances Williamson d. 30 May 1947 in San Angelo, Tom Green Co., TX. I wish that I could be of more help to you; however, the Clayton Library for Genealogical Research here in Houston is not as well equipped with material on Comanche Co. as I would like and I have not personally been out there. However, you might contact one of my cousins who has, Glynda Day Lane at <jlane@hpnc.com>. Good luck! 2. Does anyone have info on a J. E. Hodge, born in Illinois circa 1860. Suposidly he was in Texas around 1880, where a child of his was born in Dallas county in May of that year. I cannot find him on the 1800, or any other census. He was apparently in Brown county Texas at various times from 1880 - 1896. Bob Evans

    2. Hi Sherri-- Saw your posting-- I have not discovered any Jean or Jane in my Hodge line-- There are MANY Hodge lines, both in the North and in the South. Mine are from a line out of Virginia. Do you know where this Jean/Jane may have orginated? Take care Bill Hodge St. Charles Mo.

Hodge of Wisconsin. His father was Henry Hodge, mother Mary Hamilton. According to the WI census, he was born in about 1850. From what I can tell he lived in Waushara Cty and Lincoln Cty. and married at least three times, the first time to one of my relatives, Alice Morey. I've got quite a bit of info on his siblings and some census info on his children. I'll contact you via e-mail to give you details. Peggy Hoffmann
