Hello, everyone. I appear to be the new list administrator of this list. I have made some changes to the operation of the list, which you may notice. The changes make the list operation consistent with the other genealogy lists that I administer. The first is named prepending, where I have included the list name at the beginning of the subject line of messages distributed by the list. This makes sorting messages simpler, and being able to tell at a glance, that a message has been distributed by this list. Another change, is that I now have replies defaulting to the list. This makes responding to list messages simpler, and, just requires selecting Reply, to have a reply to a message, to go to the list. Most responses to messages to genealogy lists, appear to be appropriate to go via the list, rather than to the poster of the message to which a response is being made. If you want to respond off-list, to the poster of the message to which you are responding, your email application should have a choice to not reply to the Reply To address. If you need clarification, please contact me, via the list administration address (hocking-admin@rootsweb.com). I have also added a footer to messages distributed by the list (subscribers to the digest mode will not see it), which directs people to the list web page for information about how to contact the list administrator, how to unsubscribe, how to view the list archives, etc. This should mean that messages asking about these things, do not go via the list, and should keep messages on the list, to genealogical issues. I believe that the digest messages contain most of the relevant information. I hope that the changes are acceptable to most people, and that this list will "grow strong and prosper". One thing that I forgot in my first message as list administrator, and that is that, as the list has been quite quiet, it would be good for people to post their interests/queries to the list, as people come and go, and new information gets discovered. Who knows - by posting your interests/queries as they now stand, you may find that someone has new information that may be helpful to you, or, even better, you may also find that you have previously unknown relatives on the list. In posting your interests/queries, please do not do it as a reply to this message. Please do it as a new message, including the name(s) and possibly locations in the message subject line, and, in the message, include as much information; eg, name, where, and, importantly, when, and, please include your locality (county/state, and country), in your signature, so that people have an idea where you are, as they may know of some resources in your area, including Cornish Associations, that may be of help to you. You may even find that a newly found relative, is not far from you (a while ago, I found that I apparently have a sixth cousin, who lives about 40km, or 25 miles, from me).
