He died 16 Apr 1871 at Bone Gap, Edwards County, Illinois. He married Charity Temperance (went by Temperance) LOUGH on 22 Jul 1841 at Edwards County, Illinois. Temperance was born 06 Feb 1825 at present-day West Virginia and died 16 Jul 1898 at Bone Gap, Edwards County, Illinois. Temperance was the fourth of fifteen known children of Prudence Gibson (born 17 Apr 1800 at Virginia and died 02 Sep 1883 at Richland County, Illinois) who married the Rev. Peter LOUGH (b. 03 Feb 1792 at Pendleton County, present-day West Virginia and died 26 Apr 1860 at Pixley Township, Clay County, Illinois) on 25 Dec 1815 in Virginia. Prudence and Peter are buried at the Wesley Cemetery near Passport, in Clay County, Illinois. The family came west to Edwards County, Illinois along with Prudence's parents in 1837. They moved to Clay County, Illinois in 1844. Peter's father fought in the Revolutionary War. Temperance and Richard Hockin! g are buried at the Bone Gap Cemetery, Bone Gap, Edwards County, Illinois. Eliza was the second of six known children of Matthew NADING (born 12 Feb 1827 at Friedberg, Stokes County, North Carolina and died 17 Sep 1865 in North Carolina) who married Mary Ann FISHEL (born 14 Feb 1834 at Stokes County, North Carolina and died 23 Sep 1890 at Edwards County, Illinois) on 06 Apr 1852 at Forsyth County, North Carolina. Matthew NADING is buried at the Hebron Reformed Church Cemetery, on the Forsyth-Davidson County Border, North Carolina. Mary Ann FISHEL NADING HOESZEL is buried at the West Salem Moravian Church graveyard. Mrs. Mary Ann NADING married William J. HOESZEL (08 Sep 1839 - 06 Feb 1916) on 11 Mar 1869 at Edwards County, Illinois. Charles Marcelous HOCKING and Eliza NADING HOCKING were the parents of nine known children: 1. Edson Cook HOCKING (04 Aug 1878 - ???). Did he die young? or is he mixed up with his cousin Edson Cook HOCKING, son of Daniel HOCKING? 2. Lavina HOCKING (26 Aug 1891 - ???), born at Bone Gap, married William Oscar ATTEBERY. 9. Mary HOCKING (04 May 1895 - ???), born at Bone Gap, nothing known. In 1900 the family (without the sons EDSON or PARLEY) was living at Bone Gap, Edwards County (ED 16, Sheet 12) Illinois. Also living with them was a niece, Lila HARRIS, born Nov 1880 at Illinois. In 1920 the parents, single son WILBUR and a niece, Iva HOCKING (age 19, born IL) were living at Cleveland Township, Clay County, Page 17, ED2, Sheet 7, Arkansas.
