Fred Hocking was born in Cornwall, England, sometime between 1891 and 1905. He died in Michigan in 1978. Fred had two sisters, Clarice and Janie. I do not know his parents names, or when he immigrated to the U.S. Good luck, Steve Aird

I too have Hockings that moved from Cornwall to Michigan. Actually from Camborne Cornwall to the Upper Penninsula. I have the Hockings back to 1777 with a couple of off branches I have run into along the way. My ancestors came over about 1850. I have and Edmund married to Mary Ann Rule(those are the ones who moved to the states) His father was also Edmund and his mother was Jane Thomas. If you know anything of these people let me know. Thanks and Happy Hunting Angela

My Hocking ancestors don't link back the Camborne area. One lead you might try is the Hocking Descendants Society who have their HQ in Australia. They carry 80+ Hocking family trees and were able to add 2 generations to my tree. Invaluable help! There is a small annual fee to join but their information is priceless to genealogists. Their representative in US (where I guess you are based) is Barbara Eckbreth who is based in Glastonbury, CN. I suggest you contact her at: b.eckbreth@worldnet.att.net. There are representatives in UK, Canada, NZ too - ask if you need these details. Hope the above helps. Good luck with your search. Roger Hocking (UK)

Obviously the family has spread from the motherland now, but still there are for more Hockings here than in other parts of the country.

I am the GGG neice of Forrest and Regina Miller. His mother was Caroline Hocking Miller. Some of the family moved to California and some stayed in Northeren Michigan where I live. My only guess is that the quilt was passed down to generations and then got lost and then sold. I would love to see it. I don't know if it has any meaning for you but i do know that it would have significant meaning to me and the people in my area. As the Hockings and Millers were very instimental in the growth of opur small area nad it would be a great contribution to our genealogical society. Please let me know how you feel on this matter. Thank you very much, Angela Wandahsega

Hello, everyone. This is my first message to this list (I have just subscribed). Does anyone have a Mary Hocking, marrying a Stephen Benallack, or another female Hocking, marrying a male Benallack? I have a Stephen Benallack/Benalack/Bennalack/Bennallack, marrying a Mary Hockey/Hockin/Hocking/Hoctin/Hawke, in 1786, in Ladock. The family name spellings vary with each different record, including each different record in the parish register, and each different record in the online IGI. There is also another BENALLACK researcher with whom I have been in contact, who has a John BENALLACK marrying an Ann HOCKING in 1780 in Probus. Any information about either marriage, and the associated Hocking (?) family/familes, would be appreciated. Thanks in anticipation. -- Bret Busby Armadale West Australia ..............
