    3. It appears that Myers & Phillips were mistaken about this Peter Hitt, or at least confused. As far as I can tell, Hannah James married Charles Hume in 1764; she is identified in the will of her father as Hannah Hume. Peter HITT was born after 1756 in Fauquier County, Virginia. He died on 31 Aug 1802 in Fauquier County, Virginia. Will: 7 Aug 1802, Fauquier Will Book 3, page 40. The lists of tithables in Fauquier County, Virginia list three Peter Hitts beginning in 1782, however, in 1796 only two were shown. In 1798 there were four Peter Hitts, and in 1799 there were only three. Needless to say, it is difficult to distinquish between these men. Peter served in the Revolutionary War. His wife, Hannah, applied for a pension; and the index to the pension file states: Hitt, Peter, Hannah, W7732, Va Line, sol lived in Fauquier Co. Va at enl. & he married there to Hannah (---) in April 1783 & sol died 31 Aug 1802, wid appl 7 Sept 1841 Fauquier Co, Va, aged 78, several children mentioned. The will of Peter Hitt, dated 17 August 1802, was proved on 25 October 1802. It named his wife, Hannah, and his children as heirs. Peter was married to Hannah ???? on 1 Apr 1783 in Fauquier County, Virginia. Hannah ???? was born on 3 Jan 1763 and she died in Aug 1846 in Fauquier County, Virginia. Hannah was living at Leeds Manor, Fauquier County, Virginia, in 1841. Peter HITT and Hannah ???? had the following children: 2 i. Presley Russell HITT. 3 ii. Harrison Churchill HITT. 4 iii. Alexander HITT 5 iv. Mary HITT. 6 v. Susannah "Susan" HITT. 7 vi. Thaddeus N. HITT. 8 vii. Nancy HITT. 9 viii. Frances D. "Fanny" HITT. 10 ix. Elizabeth HITT. 11 x. Hannah HITT. SOURCES 1.
