The John Hitt that married Frances "Franky" Holtzclaw did not have a son named William. John and Frances's children are identified in John's will as: my four sons Joel, Joab, James and John. William s/o John Hitt and Frances "Franky" Banks (The Cape Girardeau, MO Hitts) has been mistakenly said to have married a Bradford, however, he actually married Leah Peddy and they had a son they named William Bradford Dunston Hitt. This William was named after his maternal grandmother who was named Rachel Bradford. I have been unable to find a source for a marriage between a William Hitt and a Laura Bradford.
