The following is part of the Vaughan/Baughan Family in my data base: 1. Margaret "Peggy" HITT[1,2,3,4] was born about 1782 in Culpeper County, Virginia. She died on 9 May 1868 in Fayette County, Ohio. She was buried in Fayette County, Ohio. Buried in Sugar Creek Baptist Cemetery. The will of Joseph Hitt, Jr., identifies Peggy (Hitt) Vaughn as a daughter and heir (Will Book K, page 228, Culpeper County, Virginia, written 2 November 1825, proved 21 February 1826). She was married to Lystra VAUGHAN/BAUGHAN (son of Mordecai VAUGHAN/BAUGHAN and Eve BAUMGARDNER) about 1800 in Virginia.5 Lystra VAUGHAN/BAUGHAN[6,1,2] was born about 1777 in Virginia. He died on 5 Sep 1820 in Fayette County, Ohio. He was buried in Fayette County, Ohio. Buried in Sugar Creek Baptist Cemetery. Lystra and brothers Henry and Simeon went to Rockingham, North Carolina were they were listed in the 1810 Federal Census. From there they moved to Fayette County, Ohio. They were joined in Ohio by brothers Moses and Mordecai, Jr. in 1820. Lystra: "One of the sturdy Virginian families to come to this county in 1811 was the Baughn family. Lester Baughn was the first member of the family to locate in Fayette County. He came with his wife, Margaret, and his three brothers ... " (Ref: F.M. Allen, History of Fayette Co., Ohio; Indianapolis, 1914). Lystra is buried in Sugar Creek Cemetery, Fayette County, Ohio. For details on the BAUGHAN families, the following sources are suggested, both of whom are researching the BAUGHAN families: 1) Gene P. Ewert, 501 E. 63rd N. Sioux #12, Wichita, Kansas, 67219-1213; (316)-744-2736. (1994). 2) Ralph B. Price, 1621 Exeter Road, Westminster, Maryland, 21157. (1990). 3) Chris & Sally Baughn, 8868 Greenbush Road, Somerville, Ohio, 45064. (513)-787-4126. (1990). Margaret "Peggy" HITT and Lystra VAUGHAN/BAUGHAN had the following children: +2 i.
