    3. Carlisle and ALL, Carlisle, thanks for the vote of confidence. There a number of members of the Memorial Foundation that believe as I do. However, I did not mean my remarks to be the basis for a poll of Family Researchers. I sincerely hoped that it would encourage others to begin to research the controversy and to try to develop proof, that is if such proof actually exists. A couple of other remarks. As you may or may not know, both the Heite/Heide and Hitt names existed in England and Europe at the time that Peter Hitt immigrated to Germanna. The two names exist in modern times. If you research the IGI, you will also find that both names exist. If you research the Federal Censuses you will find that both surnames exist. The problem is that a relationship between the two names cannot be made. Over the last several years, I have tried to coorespond with Heite/Heide's in Europe with little or no success. I am still trying, but if previous results are any indication, my efforts will not result in any substantial information. However, I hope I am wrong. Earl J.
