    1. James Hitt in Pickens County
    2. Rodenburg, Eric
    3. Earl and James, Ok, here is the deal. One James Hitt (James A.) born about 1823 in Old 96 (now Pickens County) SC married Elendor Duncan (Daughter of Nathaniel Duncan and Unknown Barnett) born about 1830 (could have been as early as 1823)also in Old 96 District. They had at least two children Frances and my ancestor George R. Hitt born January 1853 in Pickens County (died in Richmond VA c 1910). Nathaniel Duncan is recorded as having some dealings in common with and living near a J.T. Hitt which I take as James A. Hitt's father. I suggest that J.T. Hitt was not the James Hitt in the 1840 Pickens County but either an older James Hitt Sr. son who was not listed in that household or more likely a brother to James Hitt Sr. I suggest J.T. Hitt was John Hitt, son of the Peter Hitt who was born in 1863 and died in Greenville Co., SC. in 1836. The fact that James Sr. named his daughter born in 1823 "Elendor" and that a different James A. Hitt married an Elendor Duncan about 1850 is just a coincidence. I seem to run into a lot of coincidence as I pursue this obsession sorry, I meant hobby. So, what do you think? Does any one know about John's descendents? Did James Sr. have any undocumented sons? I think we might be on the verge of a connection here. > Subject: Re: James Hitt > Date: Wed, 11 Nov 1998 14:29:45 -0600 > From: "Earl J.
