Edie Earl is a tireless campaigner for accuracy and against the spread of false connections. Many of us DO have Johann Jacob Heite in our data, but also have B.C. Holtsclaw's note that this is just a guess based on probabilities, not facts. The problem is when we casually pass along this to other researchers as if it were fact, forgetting to include B.C.'s note. This is what initiates and perpetuates an error. We, from time to time, need Earl to remind us to be more scholarly and be explicit where we are "only guessing". Regards, ...Mike Allen ----------Original Message------------------------------------- Can all these researchers of the Hitt Family be wrong??? Is only one person's information correct and everyone elses' wrong. I would love to see documents and such as to THE PROOF of who is right and who is wrong. I have found the "posts" of the last few days very interesting and very imformative in regards to where to look and research my own Hitt family. I couldn't say 'your right' or 'your wrong'. By posting, and sharing, we help each other in the places we all need to try to look for that PROOF... So, what is the correct PROOF anyway??
