    3. Charles, The second adult Peter Hitt b. abt 1745, the son of Joseph Hitt and Mary Coons(Cuntze). The following is what I have on him: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- 1. Peter HITT was born about 1745 in Fauquier County, Virginia. He died about 1806 in Laurens County, South Carolina. Peter was the first Hitt to purchase land in Laurens County, South Carolina. He bought 185 acres in November 1785 from Samuel Eakins (Laurens County Deed Book B, pp 117-118). In June 1785, Peter sold 140 acres of land in Halifax County, Virginia to George Wiley (Halifax County Deed Book 13, p 207), prior to moving to South Carolina, therefore, he must have moved to South Carolina in the summer of 1785. Peter appears in the first U.S. Census of 1785 in Halifax County, Virginia as follows: Peter Hitt, 8-persons, 1-dwelling, 5-other buildings. Peter died intestate and on 3 February 1806, Mary, Peter's wife, consented to the appointment of her sons David and Thomas as administrators to Peter's estate; Lazarus Hitt was bondsman. (Laurens County will Book c, pp 210-211). In the consent Mary listed her children and appointed Lazarus Hitt, her brother-in-law, bondsman. Based upon the 1810 Federal Census, it is believed that Mary was living with her son Larkin in Laurens County. He was married to Mary ????. Peter HITT and Mary ???? had the following children: Thomas, Abner, David, Benjamin, Larkin, and Elizabeth HITT. -------------------------------------------End Note. I hope this is of some assistance. If you have corrections or other data I would appreciate that data. Earl J.
