Earl, thanks for the help. You certainly know your HITT. --- Re: Cuntze, Coons, Combs. you wrote < The second adult Peter Hitt b. abt 1745, the son of Joseph Hitt and Mary Coons(Cuntze)>> Have you ever seen this spelled as COMBS(Cuntze)?. There was a COMBS Ck in Orange Co NC 1770, and a William Combs there 1755. They had MOORE & FERGUSON neighbors as did the COMBS in Halifax Co VA, 1785 census. Also note this deed from Brunswick Co VA near Jacob Miller whose family was also in Laurens SC 1800's as was HITT-Miller-Holtzclaw. --- Brunswick, Indenture made the 6th day of August, 1760, between John CUMBO{Combs?} and Peter AVENT, for 35 pounds, conveying 238 acres, purchased of Joseph RIGHT(sic, Joseph Wright? Joseph Hight??Hite) and bounded as in Letters of Patent granted to the said Joseph RIGHT(Wright) dated August 1, 1745. Signed by John CUMBO (his mark). Witnesses were David MASON, Lewis SALLOMON (Salmon??), Lewis SALLOMAN, Junr. (his mark), and William AVENT(Pettypool MSS). Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were proved in Court on January 26, 1761, by the oaths of Lewis Soloman, Lewis SOLOMAN, Jr., and William AVENT.
