Germanna Record #1 is a good general reference, but one should check the facts with other references. I have never found a reference, other than GR#1, that gives Sinai George as the wife of this John Hitt. John's middle name was not "Day" as far as I can determine. John listed his brother, Jesse, in the 1800 Tax List for Culpeper County, Virginia, District of David Brown.(Virginia Magazine of History and Biography, Vol 62, No. 1, January 1954, p. 124). (Reference: DB UU:336, 1825, division of John Hitt's land; widow, Sinai Hitt). He was married to Sinai (Sinah) JAMES (daughter of Francis JAMES Sr. and Margaret ????) on 25 Dec 1791 in Fauquier County, Virginia.(3) Johns brother, Elijah Hitt, bondsman. Elijah Hitt, John's brother, was a witness to this marriage. Bond was posted on 23 December 1791.4,5 Sanai (Sinah) JAMES6 was born in Fauquier County, Virginia. Hamilton Parish, Turkey Run.
