Perhaps the following notes from my HITT data base will be of some assistance in the discussion on James Weaver HITT: Descendants of James Weaver HITT - 22 Feb 1998 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- 1. James Weaver HITT[1,2,3,4] was born on 19 Feb 1797 in Orange County, Virginia. He died on 24 Jul 1856 in Oldham County, Kentucky.5 Died: 58 years, 5 months, 5 days. Moved to Oldham County prior to 1818 (Henry County at that time; Oldham formed in 1823). James received, in 1821, a land patent for land in Twp 49, Range 14, Boone County, Missouri. On 6 June 1823, Joel Hitt, James Hitt, and Absalom H. Kellar and Nancy his wife, all of Jefferson Co., Ky., appoint Eli and Henry Holtzclaw of Fauquier Co. their attorneys to secure their share of the property of Peter Hitt, decd., and of Sarah Hitt, late decd., widow of Peter Hitt. (Fauquier County, Virginia Deed Book 27, p. 297). Joel was James' father; Peter Hitt was his grandfather; and Nancy Kellar was James' sister. James Weaver was married to Lucinda W. KALFUS (daughter of Henry Frederick KALFUS Sr. and Anna FISHER) on 12 Feb 1822 in Jefferson County, Kentucky.[6] Marriage Bond was issued on 7 February 1822; bondsman was Henry F. Kalfus.[7,8] Lucinda W. KALFUS[1,9] was born on 17 Oct 1796 in Kentucky. She died on 9 Oct 1830. (Kentucky Bible Records) James Weaver HITT and Lucinda W. KALFUS had the following children: +2 i. Joel Kalfus HITT. +3 ii. Ann Elizabeth HITT. +4 iii. Henry Kalfus HITT. 5 iv. John William HITT[10,11] was born on 14 Nov 1827 in Oldham County, Kentucky.12 Believed to have died young. 6 v. James Kalfus HITT[13,14] was born on 21 Feb 1829.15 He died on 21 Nov 1847 in Vera Cruz, Mexico. Believed to have died in the Mexican War. 7 vi. Jacob HITT was born after 1829. He died INFANT. James Weaver was married secpmd to Eliza BUTTON (daughter of Thomas BUTTON and Frances ????) on 20 Jan 1831 in La Grange, Oldham County, Kentucky.[16] Eliza BUTTON[1,17,18] was born on 10 Jul 1811 in Kentucky. She died on 26 Mar 1892 in La Grange, Oldham County, Kentucky.[19] Eliza died at the home of her son, Lattimore Hitt, who was living in the Morris ancestral home in LaGrange, Kentucky. James Weaver HITT and Eliza BUTTON had the following children: +8 i. Thomas Button HITT. +9 ii. Addison Montaque Ballard HITT. +10 iii. William C. HITT. +11 iv. John HITT. +12 v. Albert HITT. +13 vi.
