Hi, In reply to a number of inquiries I have received concerning William Hitt, William Hitt was the son of John and Sarah Hitt; that John Hitt was the son of John Hitt and Sarah Day Pace; and that John Hitt was the son of Peter and Elizabeth Hitt. William Hitt was b. in 1784 in Fauquier Co., Virginia, and died in 1845 in Martin Co., Indiana. He and Elizabeth Bailey ( who d. in 1824) had the following children: 1. Charles Hitt, b. June 22, 1812, Warrenton, VA. m. Mary Force, March 11, 1846; d. Mar. 3, 1869, Clay Co., Ill. a. Adrian Hitt, b. Jan. 2, 1851; b. Caleb Hitt, b. Dec. 4, 1848; m. Helen Deam; c. Laura Mariah Hitt, b. Dec. 3, 1854; m. Albert Smith; d. Alice Rosella Hitt; e. Mary Enis Hitt; f. Anna Florence Hitt, b. ca. 1863 (my great-gr.m.) 2. William Hitt, b. c. 1816/7, m. Hannah Ward July 31, 1846; a. Eliza Ann Hitt, b. ca. 1847/8; 3. John Hitt, b.c.1817/8; m. Jane Snyder June 20, 1850; 4. Mary Hitt m. Thomas Manning; 5. Sarah Hitt m. Mason Sherman; 6. Elizabeth Hitt m. Sol Way The marriages among William and Elizabeth Hitt's children all took place in Martin Co., Indiana.
