William is listed as a tithable with his father's family in 1801 which indicates that he was born about 1784/1785. William and his family moved to Martin County, Indiana about 1813. William was married to Elizabeth "Betsey" BAILEY (daughter of Stephen BAILEY and Susannah LUNCEFORD) on 31 Aug 1810 in Fauquier County, Virginia.[3] Date of marriage bond 31 August 1810.[4,5] William HITT and Elizabeth "Betsey" BAILEY had the following children: +2 i.
