Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Good morning, all, Are you as tired of getting long messages from people who are trying to sell you something while you are wanting to use the internet for other purposes? Well, I am. Now, someone is wanting to sell addresses to others so they can do the same thing to us. Here is part of their message (you would hurt me if I pasted it all. It is a looooonng one" "We took a total of over 190 million email addresses from many of the touted CD's that are out there (bought them all - some were $300+)! We added the millions we had in storage to those. When we combined them all, we had in excess of 300+ million addresses in one huge file. . . . " "You use these addresses, you will experience increased response, increased sales, and a host of other positives that far exceeds any hoped for results when using the competitor's inferior products. . . . " They even furnish testimonials: ""This list is worth it's weight in gold!! I sent out 100,000 emails for my product and received over 55 orders! . . ." I turned these people in for spamming. Here is what is happening. "They relayed it (raped) though some poor open mail server in Japan. My server has filed a complaint with the administrator of the server and ask them to PLEASE close their open server." This is one way to give them the hassle they are giving to the internet users: They seem to have a 800 number that THEY have to pay for each call. You might want to stop by a pay phone ( everyone your see ) and let them know how you feel about unsolicited email :) Last I checked it was like 18 cents each call. :) The other thing you might do is give their phone number to all of the people you know - ask them to call - and pass the number on to others to do the same thing. They might get a few calls if it were posted on bulletin boards in public places with a note about what they are doing and why the response is thus. I am sick and tired of spammers taking my time and space in my mailbox. I will appreciate every call that each of you make to these people and every call that you ask others to make. Maybe they will go broke before the sell too many CD's with my address (and maybe yours) on it.
