Help! I have lost the URL for the web page that had the index to the Germanna Records. It was just recently posted and somehow I must have deleted it. Please could it be posted again or privately emailed to me. Thanks a million. Ellen
What's the address of that library? I live just out of Kent.... Ronna
Dear Hitt Researchers, The State Library in Olympia, Wa has papers that are described as "Hitt Family Papers". I wonder if any of you have seen these papers? Jesse Hitt (son of Caleb Hitt, son of Rev. Martin Hitt, son of Harmon/Herman Hitt, son of Peter Hitt the immigrant) was once the State Librarian in Olympia. I presume this is how the papers came to be in WA.
Count me in. Vernon Lacey
I am sure that a lot of us would like a copy. Sue, the name Curnal in your post intrigues me. My Jamestown VA, William HITE named a son CHARNEL, as did his cousin John Hight(1725-1795). Henry Hitt, Harmon Miller(both married Holtzclaw sisters) were in Halifax VA, 1760-1780. Do you have more on Barnett & Grace Curnal? Thanks Charles Hite

Ancestry and Descendants of the NASSAU-SEIGEN IMMIGRANTS TO VIRGINIA 1714-1750. By B.c. Holtzclaw. Aka Germana Record #5 This is a very good book for those who are Hitt related. It is a nice book well bound and of good quality paper. I bought mine over the phone from Germana I think for $29.00 and recieved it in about three days. An excellent buy. I use it constantly for reference and verification.
Henry Lee, Could you e-mail me privately about your LEE roots? Barb Price
Dear Rose Marie, The information you supplied to Sue Pearson is incorrect; The book to which I refer as I have Emailed to her is: 'BENJAMINE HITT AND NANCY CURNAL HITT- THEIR ANTECEDENTS AND DESCENDENTS" by Beatrice Phillips Myers and Vada Hemba Phillips It is 253 pages in length not 583 as Sue says. It also is not copywrited and in fact the authors urge in the forward "perhaps some future descendant will be able to pick up where these compilers have failed and fill in the many gaps that are still unresolved. It is hoped that someone will, at least, keep the report up-dated with the future generations and that this work will serve as a reminder of our heritage and religious freedom. The compilers will appreciate any suggestions, additions, changes, and information from any source regarding the Hitt and allied families which would enhance or clarify this report. Such information could serve as a basis for a worthwhile supplement." Best wishes, Rev. Robert E. Walker
Rev. Walker, I received a message from the Germanna Foundation stating that the book you have is the Germanna Record book # 5. If so I already own this book. I purchased it while attending the Germanna Reunion in 1995. My book is copyrighted and has 583 pages. If this is the same book I do not need a copy of yours as I already own the book. I don't understand why they have not mentioned this before as you have been sending several messages to Ms Porter about the book! Let me know. Sue Pearson At 11:09 AM 1/14/98 -0500, you wrote: >Rev. I am looking for the parents of Priscilla Alice Hitt (21 Sept 1838 to 1888) m. David Lewellyn Malone on 18 Aug 1856. Their first child, Martha Florence Malone was born in 1857 in Greensboro, MS and then moved to Ft. Worth, Texas in 1879. Thanks for any help I can get. Gordon Grant Lane
Sorry, but the book that both Rev. Robert Walker and I were referring to was not Germanna Record No. 5, but "Benjamin Hitt and Nancy Curnal Hitt Their Antecedents and Descendants" by Vada H. Phillips and Beatrice B. Myers. The book is out of print. I saw one in the McClung East Tennessee History Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. Rev. Walker has a photocopy of the book and hopefully we can convince him to reprint it so we can all get a copy. According to him, the material is not copyrighted. I wrote to both of the authors, and both letters came back "Unable to deliver." Ms. Phillips letter carried the notation "deceased."
