Dear Rev. Walker, I have been lurking on you messages re: the HITT family, and have greatly enjoyed the information you have shared. I am descended from Peter the immigrant through Joseph, probably Joseph, Jr., John, Joab, John H. Sr., John H. Jr., Chester Lee, me. Joab moved from Madison County VA with his family and father-in-law, Humphrey Taylor, to Howard County, Missouri in 1844. The lineage from Joab to Peter is a little shaky; some data points to his father John (m. Frances Holtzclaw) as son of Joseph , Jr. and other data points to him as son of John, Joseph, Jrs., brother. My real reason for posting is that you may be unaware that you are sending an attachment with every message that I, for one, cannot decode and I have about everything available. You can see from your mesage below that the attachment does exist. Thank you very much for all the infomation you have shared to all of us. Ted Hitt Robert E. Dear Ronronna, My information does not give your John Hitt as being the s/o Peter the Immigrant. It lists him as the s/o Harmon Hitt and Mary Weaver. John Hitt (10-18-1746 1782) John married Sarah Day-Pace (her first husband was Richard Pace) and moved to South Carolina. Sarah was the daugher of John Day. John and Sarah lived and died in Edgefield, S. C. They were the parents of : Martin Hitt m. Lucy Bussey Martin was born in Edgefield District S.C. He married Lucy Bussey on 12-24-1801. Lucy as the daughter of Reverend Charles Bussey of Edgefield. Martin and Lucy were the parents of the following children; 1. John Day Hitt m. Susan M. Florence 2. Amanda Glover Hitt b. 12-17-1804 3. Charles Bussey Hitt b. 7-15-1806 m. Susan A. Goodman 2-23-1833 Hope the above is helpful. The authors had listed James Hitt m. Catherine Morris as being a son but before I came to possession of the book someone had marked through James so I presume he may/may not have been a son of John and Sarah Day-Pace Hitt. Best Wishes, Robert E. Walker

Rev. Robert E. Walker, My records show that David Hitt b. 1776 married Jane Meek in Laurens Co. and had ten children. Your posting gave his wife as Ann. I have nothing on either Meek. Can you fill me in. Best regards, Gordon Grant Lane Sewanee, TN
Rev. Walker, You're right, sorry. Thank you for sending the information. I certainly appreciate it. Ronna
Rev. Walker: I am a descendant of John Hitt who married Sarah Pace, thru their son Aaron Hitt, thru his son William b, 1797. Do you have information on the children of John and Sarah. One of Aaron sons was Thompson Hitt who married Betsey Douglas and died in Mason county Ky. William Hitt B. 1797 married Mary Elizabeth Watson July 2, 1818, who died before 1846. He later married her sister Nancy Watson. Any information you could furnish on John Hitt and Sarah Pace and their children would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Henry Lee Falmouth, Ky
Rev. Walker, Thank you for posting the information from your book about Harman HITT. I have one more favor. Would you check your book for information on John HITT (s/o Peter, the immigrant) who married Sarah PACE. Thank you in advance. Ronna

Dear Rev. Robert E. Walker, You are always sending attached files with your messages. What format are these files in? I can't find what program can open them, yet there are large number of bites in each attached file! Thanks. Dear Jenell, I have the following which I am sure you probably already have but if not maybe this will help: Mary Ann Hitt (1723-27 1813-14) and Jacob Rector (1720-25 1810-11) Mary Ann was the fourthf child and only daughter of Peter Hitt and his wife, Elizabeth. Don't know if any of the above can help solve your puzzle but hope so. Sincerey, Rev. Robert E. Walker Booneville, Ms.
Ronna, The Germanna records are confusing for me, too, but I think that I have this correct. My ancestor Jacob Rector b. ca 1731 d. 1810 Grayson, Va was married to a Mary Ann Hitt b. 1727 m. 1748 Fauquier Co., Va. I have thier children as follows: 1. Peter b. 1749 2. Nancy b. 1752 3. James b. 1754 (also my ancestor) 4. Jesse b. 1759 5. Bennet (Sr.) b. 1767 6. Elizabeth (Betty) b. 1769 Does that match your account? Jenell Rector Cremeans Nellmail@aol.com
Dear Judith, I finally located a copy of Germanna Record #1. As far as Joel MARTIN and Mary Ann HITT goes, it's even more confusing. Some of the e-mail I have received state that my Mary Ann is the daughter of Harman HITT, some say John HITT d/o Peter, but I am still waiting to hear the sources. I am sure your Harman and Mary HITT are related to my Mary Ann but who knows how?? One person gave the children of Mary Ann HITT and Charles AYERS and it doesn't match to my Mary Ann although the age is right. If you find anything, I sure would be interested...... Thanks for responding to my query. Ronna
I have proof of my husband's Hitt family back to and including John Hitt born about 1759 VA died 1839 Cape Girardeau MO 1839. He married Frances (Frankie) Banks who was born 1763 VA and died 1852 in Cape Girardeau MO. I have been told he was a son of Henry Hitt and Alice Katherine Holtzclaw. I am fairly new to Hitt research and wonder if anyone has more info on this family? Thanks. Ellen
Dear Hitt Researchers, The address to the Washington State Library is: Washington State Library Washington Northwest Room Olympia, WA 98504 phone; 206 753-4024 Discription of the papers are; Hitt family correspondence, a family genealogy, and other papers, some concerning Robert R. Hitt, U.S. Congressman from IL 1882-1907 Anyone researching the Samuel Hitt/ Barbara Hershey Hitt family? Wanda
To Ronna, Gordon Grant Lane and others, There has been some discussion about Mary Ann Hitt. The one born 9 Apr 1759, daughter of Harman and Mary Weaver Hitt, married Charles W. Ayers in 1778. The Joel Martin who married Mary Ann Hitt is discussed in "Germanna Record" #1 in the Martin section. The writers were not sure of Joel's parents, and did not go into the parentage of Mary Ann. I am descended from Harman and Mary Weaver Hitt's son Jeese Hitt whose second wife was Ann Rector. Judith
