    3. HI Judy, I am in a suburb of Chicago, Aurora Il. Did not get to the grave site for John but my niece did.  It is on private property and she did meet the owner.  Gave me his email but I never got an answer from Him.  Assume it was their property and Frances is buried there also.  Only Military and DAR marker are on his. It was a hard climb and she said she got ticks so didn't even try.   I did do a paper for DAR on him.  Would love to know who the parents of Frances were.  I tried to connect her to Girard Banks but couldn't find the proof. I have been to Germanna and get their bulletins all the time.  Are you aware of Germanna?  My direct line is:  Peter Hitt/Elizabeth Otterback>Henry/Alice Holtclaw>John/Frances Banks>Ratchel/Peter Franks>Elizabeth Franks/Daniel Low>Mary Ann Low/Thomas W. Williams>Then a double line.  Daughter Nancy Williams/Henry Honeycutt and Dgt. Annie Mahalia Willliams/Emmett Crawford.  Two more generations then me.  I will try and connect to your line.  I grew up in Texas but married a Yankee have lived in the area since 1949.  Lost my hubby in 2016.  Have a house and still drive at 92 & 11/12.  Ha! Keep in touch.  Have done lots of research. 1. [HITT] Aaron Hitt Letter
    2. Jeff P. via
    3. In Germanna Record Number 5, under the Hitt's section, page 188 BC Holtzclaw references a letter by Aaron Hitt written on April 5, 1849 while living with his grandson, James Donovan in which he included a good deal of family information to his daughter Melvina and her husband Aaron Boggs. A Mrs. Pearl Ragan, a descendent of Melvina, had the letter back in the 1950/1960's. She lived//in Toledo, Ohio. Has anyone seen this letter or have a copy of it? Or know who now has it in their possession? Thanks!

All that I have can be seen in my database on WorldConnect. I have recently updated it to reflect some work that Jeff Phillips and I have done. I now think that William Russell Hitt and Garrett T. Hitt, who were already in my database, are brothers of the Peter Hitt that is an ancestor of Jeff and that their father is William Hitt, who is probably a son of John Hitt, son of the immigrant. Most of what I have is a result of my own research. Some, however, is taken from Earl Hitt's database. Miriam Hitt and Archibald Holtzclaw fall into the latter category. Earl's database has about 10 times more Hitts than mine. It uses documents such as court records, tax lists, Family Bibles, etc. The only Dinah I can find in this book is the daughter of Peter (b. 1726, d. 1810) and wife Sarah James. She married Tillman Kemper. Also, Harman and Mary had 12 children (no Dinah) and none of the daughters married a Lawler. I could not find any Lawler's. Harman's siblings are John, Joseph, Henry, Mary and Peter. Since the book I have says it is number 1, I suppose there is at least a number 2 that may have more information about other families.
