Hi: Anyone have an idea as to who this Capt. Hugh L. Hinds, company commander is below. He is Capt. for the G 5th Infantry California Volunteers during the Civil War? I found it while searching for Hinds and Tulare at the MOA site at: http://library5.library.cornell.edu/moa/ On a later page it mentions that he is Capt. Hugh L. Hinds and in the District of Western Arizona he is in charge of Fort Bowie. There is another Captain in charge of Tucson. I am posting the makeup of their traveling encampment as they move from CA to AZ to the Rio Grande. Would a Captain also be a volunteer? Or do you think that Capt. Hinds was in the "regular" army and was put in charge of one group of volunteers? Regards, Nan [email protected] ----------------------------- Book: United States. War Dept. et al.
