    1. RE: [HINDS] Graves of Veterans and Family Members
    2. Barbara Finney
    3. Dear Bill, Thank you for your kind offer of assistance in finding my father's grave but I have already managed to get a record of his burial. I knew that he was buried in the American Cemetery at Cambridge, England and had visited his grave. However, when I wanted to get a written record of his war service, I found that the Army did not even know that he existed. According to them, all the records burned at Saint Louis some years ago. I finally managed to get a record of his burial from the American Battle Monuments Commission, who also sent me a picture of the cemetery and of his grave. They sent me his name, rank and serial number, the place where he entered the service and the division of the army to which he was assigned on the date of his death. I was never able to get a record of his service, although he served in two world wars. Even to get this much, I had to file a formal Freedom of Information Act Request. This, to me, was most unfortunate. I am glad to see that the Veteran's Administration is now making information about our veterans more easily accessible. I hope that this new list helps others find their loved ones. Barbara
