12 September 2001 To my friends and family, As you can imagine, things are rather hectic here this morning after the terrible events of yesterday. As an emergency essential civilian, I was called in to work today on Miesau Army Depot, Germany. We went through the security checks at the gate and then through the additional vehicle checks. At the office, although the word was "Business as usual," no-one really knows what usual is in a case like this. One of the strange things that did occur, although I guess it was normal when I think of it, happened when I entered the second set of gates going out into the area where I work. We have "Wild Boar" on the depot. Not so wild really. A number of the people that work out here feed them. This morning when I came through the gates into the ammunition area, 10 of the boar were there looking for the people that normally fed them. Of course, those people will not be coming in today. They are not emergency essential. The wild pigs looked at me expectantly. The events of yesterday meant nothing to them. Pigs no nothing of such things. God bless you all.
