[If the search was for "Nan" AND "Wolf", the result would also have been 247.] The question remains how long the eGroups archive will remain.... // Gord Hines (in Regina SK Canada)" ======================= Okay Hinds-L list members: As you can see I transferred last night some messages that are not in the egroup archives. I was ill for two months in 1999 and those messages were sitting in my inbasket. I was amazed to find them. Don't ask how many messages I have in my Inbasket - embarrassing. Okay - 1970 messages!!! BUT, I can delete every single message I sent last night knowing it can be searched at the archive later.. Clif requested the list be archived in March of 1999. So I have one more month to send the list that is not archived - then what? Barbara has noted that an egroups list is closed if unused. At Rootsweb - a list still functions even if it doesn't have an "on the list" administrator. It is noted as "Up For Adoption" and keeps functioning. What happens at egroups? As for searching - Rootsweb is evidently a lot easier because I have been using that search site for years and Gord just now figured out how to search the Hinds egroup list. Needless to say - I feel STUPID. Rootsweb has said that it will link the Hinds egroup to its Hinds search mechanism and will link it to Cyndi's also. But as Gord says: "The question remains how long the eGroups archive will remain...." Should we continue to move the info from that list to Hinds-L before its demise? Need your input please. After all you at Hinds-L are the ones that are getting bombarded with old messages . And, Cliff is PACKING!!! Regards, Nan Wolf [email protected]
