From the Nelson, Nebraska news paper Sophia Hinds Nelson resident Sophia (Blanchard) Hinds, 79, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000 at Good Samaritan Center in Nelson. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Klawitter-Price Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Rodehorst officiating. Burial will be in the Nelson Cemetery. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hinds was born Jan. 2, 1921, to Russel and Carrie (Christensen) Blanchard in rural Coon Rapids, Iowa. She attended Thomas Jefferson School in Iowa. She lived in Iowa and Virginia. She then lived in Edgar and Angus. She moved to Nelson Good Samaritan Center in 1998. She was a member of the Methodist Church and past president of the Golden Age Club in Nelson. Survivors are one daughter, Shirley A. Saar of Edgar; three sisters, Leila Theda of Glidden, Iowa, Lucille Lansman of Rippey, Iowa, and Shirley Williams of Leadville, Colo., Two brothers, Russell of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Arden of Nelson; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
