    3. Hi: I think I have sent this before but am sending it now just in case................. At the website below there is a great biography of Wm Alexander, patriot of the Rev. War. I am pasting just the bit about the fact that he bought land in Hinds Valley in Knox Co. TN. I believe this is the Hinds Valley that is now in Anderson & Union Counties TN - north of Knoxville & southwest of Maynardville - near the KY border. There is another Hinds Valley in the middle of the state. It seems that both valleys were settled by different children/grandchildren of Joseph Sr. who died 1772 in Guilford Co. NC. If you are familiar with the Over Mountain men - Wm. Alexander was one of them. They congregated from VA, KY and TN at Sycamore Shoals (in TN) on the west side of the mountains before marching over and through the mountains to fight at Kings Mountain in SC. They were featured in the movie, The Patriot with Mel Gibson, where movie license turned them into men of the swamp. My family and I have followed their trail over the mountains from Sycamore Shoals to the battleground in SC. - quite a feat in the time it took them to get there. Can't figure out why the movie moguls didn't want to feature such an accomplishment. If I remember correctly the move had them simply coming out of the swamps not marching over an entire mountain range. His entire bio is at the website below. On November 9, 1807, he purchased 300 acres of land located at Hickory Creek in Hinds Valley in Knox County, Tennessee. The land bordered Beaver Creek Ridge and Black Oak Ridge. William resided in Knox County until about May of 1838, when he moved to Hamilton County, Tennessee to live with his son, David Alexander.
