    1. Re: [HINDS] Hindses of Hindsville
    2. Edward Moore
    3. Thanks Ken, for your response on the Hinds of Hindsville, Arkansas. I was glad to learn that they did indeed contribute to the town's name. I am prompted to ask several more questions of you. While you do not know of another King woman marrying a Hinds, do you know if there were any male candidates for such a marriage? I wonder about the significance of the given name "Columbus"; which family was it common to -- Hinds, King or Moore. You say that the eldest son of Lorenzo and Mary Jane King Hinds was named John Christopher Columbus Hinds. Noble Hamilton and Minerva King Moore named their first born William Columbus Moore. And Noble Hamilton Moore had a cousin named Columbus Moore. Since Lorenzo Hinds is apparently not buried with his wife, Mary Jane, in the Hindsville Cemetery, I wonder what happened to him. You asked about Mary Jane King Hinds' parents. That was my long quest, and has been only partially answered. Her mother is the Margaret King you referred to (1800-1875, born in North Carolina), but I don't know Margaret's maiden name or family history. I have proved to my satisfaction, but not with genealogical assurance, that Margaret was married to one William King, born about 1799 in North Carolina. It's a very long story, and I am going to send it to you privately. I don't know if you will find much new Hinds information, but there is some good Arkansas history recorded there. Thanks again, Ed Moore
