Hi: At the MOA (Making of America) site (http://moa.umdl.umich.edu/moa_search.html) I came across a large list of deserters from Wisconsin in 1864. There is a W. H. HInds who is listed with fifteen others as having deserted as of Sept. 20, 1864 or it may mean that they deserted on that date. They were all from Milwaukee.
