I am new to the list and would like to find ancestors of Benjamin Hinds, b. 1778 in Wayne County KY. He married Nancy Fox in Wayne County in 1819 and brought his family to settle in Linn Co KS in the early 1850s. I am a descendant of his daughter Charity Frances. I would like very much to establish who his parents are and would be grateful for any information that might help me to research this family. Thank you Barbara

Dear Barbara, Benjamin was the son of Joseph Hinds, born about 1759 in Morris County, NJ, and Margaret _____. His father was Joseph Hinds, born June 17, 1737 in Morris County, NJ, and Hannah ____. Joseph was again the son of a Joseph, born about 1705, we know not where but who lived in Morris County, NJ, and married Ruth ____. A very good source of information is Hinds in Kentucky and Tennessee by David Trimble, 2506 Hartford Rd, Austin, TX 78703-2429, Telephone 512-472-7246. You can purchase the book for a very low price or look at a microfilmed version available at you nearest Family History Library. All of us would appreciate any information that you can dig up about where the first Joseph came from.
