Hi:' I can't remember the first name of Haines in this story below but I think it was Adam. Can one of you Hinds researchers tell me the right names and spelling of these names. On a PBS auction show last night - a lady was showing a tiny pair of Indian mocassins that family legend said may have come from the Indian Chief Joseph Brandt. Her ancestor is Adam or Alexander Haines (sp?) - a Rev War loyalist who arrived in Canada from Vermont (I believe it was) and fought along side Joseph Brandt, whose Indian tribe fought with the English in the French and Indian War and also in the Revolutionary War. The auction people said it is documented that Haines and Brandt did indeed fight alongside one another. But, the moccasins were made about 1860 which ended that story about Haines being presented with the moccasins by Joseph Brandt. The auctioneer mentioned that there is a museum to Joseph Brandt somewhere in Ontario. Now, can one of you PULEEZE straighten me out on the correct names and spelling of these two men and which state Haines came from. Just hit REPLY so we can all get the straight scoop. I'd also like to hear more about this Haines and his Rev War activities and what happened to him after the war. Did he return to his home state? Regards, Nan [email protected]
