Hi: I copied these entries of Hinds names in the Hinds Valley Church minutes near Rockwood TN through 1831. During these periods of time, there were country-wide divisions among Baptists, to which this possible split at Bullock Pen may or may not have been connected: 1)the church met at John Hinds in the middle of the summer (only winter meetings were usually held there); 2) the number of members was presented to their association; 3) Rules of Decorum were formed for the church (in July 1829), 4) and then about a year later adopted a Confession of Faith; 5) William Kirk was ordained to "pastoral charge (in November 1829), his letter of dismission granted the following month, then two months later, "Bro. Stuart was appointed as pastor; 6)"the church moved into "Hindes Valley Meeting House apparently in June 1833, having met at John Hinds "until a new meetin [house] can be built (see Mar. 1830). The church continued to be referred to in the minutes as Bullock Pen through February 1833, then in the 2nd Saturday meeting in March 1833, the name was changed to "Hindses Valley and the beginning of the April 1833 entry read, "The United Baptist Church of Christ at Hindes Valley Meeting House. The church had also reorganized in 1820 at the beginning of these minutes. This may have been the reason Hinds Valley did not claim the minutes of Bullock Pen church before 1820 (even though the Bullock Pen church existed at least as early as 1812.]] Robert Walker was no longer clerk after March 14, 1828, but there is evidence that his death occurred within months afterward, so this apparently had nothing to do with a possible division in the church. William Kirk served in Brother Walkers place beginning in July 1829, and in the August 8, 1829 meeting "Brother Magors is asked to get the church book and papers at "the house of Robert Wakers Seceased. This is definitely an "S instead of a "d as in "deceased, but a 3rd- great granddaughter of Robert Walker, Alison Agins, believes that he did die sometime near this time. Alison says, "He wrote his will June 27, 1829....they got the records [[at the courthouse]] Aug 1829 and the will went to court Nov 1829." 1829, 8th AUGUS the church met and after worship proceaded to Business1stopend a door for Reception of membersand Received Robert S.
