Nan, Looked at the AIS census index on Ancestry.com and found a Joseph D. HINDS on the 1880 census in Central City, Gilpin Co., CO page 021. Don't know if he is the right one, but you could check that census and hopefully know from his age and other family members listed with him. Hope this helps. Carol Harrison
