Hi: My husband is reading the book People In Profile about people connected with the Christ Church Parish in Lancaster Co. VA. He ran across the name of Judith Hinds twice. I am pasting them below. I am pasting a marriage found at Ancestry.com that says that her name at her marriage was MRS. Judith Hinds. So, she must be been Widow Hinds. Does anyone know anything about her Hinds husband, Richard, named below - and Hinds daughter, Judith? He may have been an attorney, for he represented Robert Carter often in business dealings and legal matters. "Swan, also recently widowed from his second wife, Elizabeth, courted Mary (Landon Jones) and took her as his third wife. His daughters were married, but his young son John was still living at home on the easternmost 200 acres on Fleets Bay Neck, a tract that Swan just purchased in 1700. Page 38: "Alexander Swan died in 1709. His will stipulated that his estate remain intact and the profits be divided between his son and heir John, son of Swan's first wife Judith Hinds, and his widow, Mary Landon Jones Swan. The will although carefully conceived, created an enmity that would persist for 20 years. Son John was heir to the estate, but if he died without issue, his sisters Margaret Pinckard and Judith Jones would inherit the property.
