My brother found this while going though my father's papers. We always thought that Mary was our Great-Great Gramdmother. Don't know if Jacob was married before Mary and William was his son or what(?) Mary A. Hinds Mary A. Bright was born in Augusta County, Virginia, September 27, 1829, and died at her home in Leon, Iowa May 7, 1913. At an early age she moved with her parents to Callia County, Ohio, where she grew up to womanhood. In 1848 she was married to Jacob Hinds and in a few years they came to Iowa and settled on a farm in the south part of Woodland Township. They were among the pioneers of that settlement, which was made up of Ohio people. They lived on the farm until the death of Jacob Hinds in 1882. The next year she moved to Leon where she resided until the time of her death. She was the last survivor of a hardy Virginia family. Two of her brothers Jacob Bright and Soloman Bright were for many years residents of Decatur County, both having died here in recent years. The other brothers remained in Ohio and Virginia. She had for forty years been a member of the Advent Christian church and had always lived a life consistant with her faith. She was a great favorite with all her friends and acquaintances, both old and young who mourn her departure. She had no children of her own but raised a boy, William Hinds who now lives at Fruita, Colorado. Funeral services were held at the Advent Christian Church by Elder McNett, of Mount Ayr. After which she was tenderly laid to rest in the Union Cemetery in Morgan Township to await the resurrection morn. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
