Title: Ledger, 1839-1857. Description: 1 v. Notes: Resident of Middletown Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey; apparently resided at 90 Grand Street in an unidentified town or city in 1840 and early 1841 before removing to Middletown Township. Ledger containing two sets of entries. The first group of entries, December 1839-February 1841, were recorded at an unidentified location with no indication of the method of payment. These entries pertain to foodstuffs (and sometimes coal) provided to persons (evidently employees of an unspecified enterprise) on an almost daily basis. The first page of the second group of entries, which begin in March 1841, is headed "New Jersey." Most of these entries pertain to persons employed by Cooper (who is named in the ledger only in one account and two receipts). These employees, all men, may have been agricultural workers and, for some, the duration and dollar amounts of their contracts are specified. Most frequently charged against their accounts were cash and foodstuffs. Among the remaining accounts is one, 1852-1855, with the Chosen Freeholders of Monmouth County "for Long Bridge" maintenance. In addition, some of the accounts grouped at the end of the volume relate to part ownership of several ships, to rent received, 1850-1855, for "House & lot at headens Corner," and to "Cash Paid out [1856-1857] for Building house." Sailing vessels named in the accounts include the schooners Margaret W. Klotts, Theodore Parker, and Gordon D. White, as well as the sloop Martin Hines. Acquired prior to 1952. Lacks ca. 4 leaves; several other leaves detached. Index pages partly obscured by newspaper clippings. James Cooper. Ledger. MC 363. 1. Surname of Wray
    2. Nan & George Wolf
    3. Hi: Tonight -at the last moment before the doors closed at the local LDS Family History Center - I spotted a Wray (can't remember the first name) who served at the Battle of the Guilford Courthouse, Guilford Co. NC in the Rev. War. I know that there is a Hinds researcher on this list that has a Wray in her collateral lines. It was an LDS film. I'm packing to leave in three days and will not be back until Oct 28th. If the Wray researcher does not have this Guilford Courthouse info - I will look it up for them when I return. There is a bio on each of the men. Put the 28th on your list and send me a message about it so I'll see it when I return. Regards, Nan [email protected]

According to this book , Solomon West came to Wayne Co. from South Carolina. He was married to Hetty (Kitty) Norton daughter of Mercer Norton and Martha (Higgens) Norton West. Solomon's father, also named Solomon, was a Revolutionary War Patriot. Solomon's grandson , Tunstal Quarles West, married Sarah Elizabeth Wray, the granddaughter of John S. Wray. Be glad to help in any way I can with this line. Just don't have a lot of time to do research. Bernice [email protected] -------------------------------------

    3. Hi: Found this on the query page but looks familiar so I may have sent this recently. I am interested because my John HInds and his father Levi had land in this area at Price's Landing which is supposed to be near Mills Springs. I can locate Mill Springs on the USGS search site map but not Price's Landing. And, this is the first I have heard of Boone Cave in Wayne Co. Does anyone know the story behind it? It is the 3rd Boone Cave I have run across in my wanderings across the states. There is one in (Marion?) KY and one in Harrison Co. KY.
