Dear List, I'll be posting the HILLs in AR, NC & TN in the federal census for 1850 (Still looking for my William S. HILL) There were some names listed in indexes that did not appear on the indicated page(s). They are not included. Hardin Co TN in particular was faulty in the index--part of the names were actually in Hardeman Co. I searched all of Hardin Co., but did not find a number of names. I did not proofread these, so I'm sure there are probably errors. Please go to the original if you have questions. Dana HILL 1850 Arkansas Federal Census--HILL ------ Each household consists of: County, township, enumerator, date---only one per household Page, dwelling, family, surname, first name, age, sex, race, occupation real estate, birthplace,married in year, school in year, cannot read or write, remarks---as many as there are people in each household ----- Nothing between commas means no entry for that column; there is an extra comma on the end; ignore. m=male or married in year f=female s=school in year r=cannot read or write *=one character I could not make out ?=more than one character or the entire entry illegible. [ ]=my notes, comments, etc. Birthplace is 2-character state names except in a few instances where the original was "Miss" which could have either been Missouri or Mississippi. I left these as "MISS" Union county had two different sets of numbers for dwelling/family. I would suggest going to the original and make your own decision.
