Hello again one and all! All I can say is WoW! :-) I want to thank everyone of such an enthusiastic response to my proposal! And I think this is an early testament to the potential this could have for us all - in only just a few hours we have had a stream of great ideas, feed-back and even offered monies! It has been a long time since I have seen such willingness. Given all of the feed back thus far - and hopefully even more in the future - what I would suggest is the following: * Everyone please continue sending your thoughts, ideas and offers for volunteerism to me - either directly or via the HILL-Digest. If traffic for this gets too heavy, Byron may opt for you to contact me directly. * I will start compiling a list of people who wish to contribute their info., their time, their skills & their money (if it turns out we would need it - but hopefully we won't need it) for the next week or so. I will then report back and try and give everyone an update as to how things have developed. * I will pursue some of the free web space options - and see what kind of strings come attached, and report back and see what the consensus might be. * Please send in ideas as to how you think it might be easiest to show family line information, along with family migration and importantly, documentation. I have some ideas on this, but would prefer to hear from others. * As soon as we have a server location defined and the backbone of the site set-up, ideally I think it would be great to have different people maintain different areas. This way it gets more people involved, it helps spread out the work and responsibility, and it can belong to us all. Again, thanks so much for the welcome response, but please don't let the enthusiasm fade, as this will not all happen over night and will take some work. Looking forward to hearing from you all, Terry Hill
Terry, This is a tremendous idea! I would be willing to share my data.
