What I am proposing is this: * A serious, highly organized attempt by all of us, using all the tools listed above, to systematically lay down the origins of our for fathers and their path across the US. I am not in anyway implying that we are not all serious about our research. I am simply saying that after years of researching dead-ends, we some times settle for loose connections at best or do not flush out all the facts with sufficient documentation or detail - can you tell I'm an engineer?! :-) * I propose one site, which links together all of the above tools, where Hill researchers can congregate to collect, add to and help chart out the Hill's history in the US. * In addition to what the existing tools listed, I propose the next tool which will let us take the paradigm shift needed to make this a truly remarkable research effort: Establish on-line family lines research pages where a common family line can selflessly document their research (from many different researchers) so that it can be offered up for peer review, discussion and/or correction. This last item will take considerable work, but I believe that if we can get it set up (exact format & implementation to be determined) it would be an invaluable tool to help ferret-out any mistakes, erroneous data & help tie together family lines. I offer up my services in what ever form they are needed and I'm sure if people are interested we can have continuing discussions on the scope and implementation of it all. To try and wrap-up my note for today, let me say that I see such great potential of such an undertaking that would have nothing but tremendous benefits for the HILL genealogy cause. I joined the Hill list to find connections to William Hardin Hill Sr. and Hescenia Smallwood, as a consequence I "collected" a lot of "Green" and "Greenberry" Hills (and other "Greenberry" surnames). Although all of this is interesting to me, it ends up being undocumented. I can offer probably only two pieces of "proof" for a couple of Hills that are truly part of my line. Do you propose that we gather everything from all resources, or just those which are documented? I agree that those researchers on the Hill line are far more active than some other families. I only wish I were more closely related than a single marriage of a male "Cross" to a female "Hill". Were it so, I would be much farther ahead in my research than I am! Any contribution that I can make, I will gladly offer. In the mean time, I will still be "eavesdropping" until someone ( or I) post the ancestors of William Hardin Hill!!! My sentiments too. GREAT IDEA!!!!! Would there be way to do it on a Yahoo Group?? I'm not at all web site literate but do belong to a group on yahoo that allows the posting of pictures. I would think that a family tree in text format would take less hard drive space than a bunch of pictures. David Hill
