Byron and everyone, I'm trying this once again. I very much appreciate the various comments on V. Royt Hill's research. The letters I have indicates he has questions about Hill ancestry, but perhaps between 1941 and his death he did more work with which I'm not familiar. My primary point was related to our discussions of DNA, and its implications.. It was that he had a letter written by someone else that suggested a group of Hills, not descendants of Isaac and Lucinda Wallace Hill, "said" they were related to Senator Benjamin Harvey Hill. I thought that IF this other group of Hills (brothers Joab and Thomas, Thomas son Henry Taylor (possible contemporary of Sen Benj Harvey Hill), Henry's daughter Mary Hill Box) had a known/proven/documented satisfactorily ancestry back to NC (or VA) in the mid 1750s, then finding a descendant for a DNA test might help Isaac Hill descendants (or others) if there was a match (or even near match). My views on this remain the same. IS anyone on this list a part of the families of which V. Royt Hill was a member? Are they being tested. I know that one of the subscribers mentioned the ancestry, but it wasn't specific enough for me to figure out. Do they fit into any of the lines already being tested or at Byron's website, which I see is now being updated? I was in no way condoning V. Royt's Hill research, none of which I submitted to the list, nor do I really have. The letter I cited was not his, and he expressed his doubts about the linkage to Senator Hill, which I interpret to mean he wasn't sure whether the story was fueld by the desire to be linked to famous personages or not. Best Regards, Janet Hunter
