To any U.K. HILL listers, Kathy HILL from Auckland New Zealand. I have just managed to find my possible GG Grandparents in the 1901 census Richard HILL aged 36 Born Worcester, Worcestershire. Administrative county is Birmingham. Civil Parish Ashton His Occupation is listed as: Shop Keeper Outdoor Beer House. Louie HILL (Wife) aged 34 Born Malvern, Worcestershire. Administrative County is Birmingham. Civil Parish Aston. Her maiden name is Louisa Jane HILLARY (Hillory in 1881 cencus) I have visited the Free BDM site but can not find their marriage. Their supposed first known son William Richard HILL was not home when the cencus was taken. William said his age was 22 in 1904 at the time of his marriage to a Sarah Anne Emily POPE. Bertram HILL (Son) aged 10 Born Western S Mare Somerset. Administrative County Birmingham. Civil Parish Ashton. Florence (Daughter) Aged 7 Born Birmingham. Administrative County Birmingham. Civil Parish Aston. We are not sure if Louisa HILLARY was Richard's first and or only wife. This is due to the big age gap between the birth of William? and his brother Bertrum in 1890. I did think about trying to do a DNA on my HILL line but there are so few Males. How many generations do you need to prove a family link? Why is it that only males are tested? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
