Mel Hill [email protected] My ggrandfather John Hill was born in Maryland 1794/1793, I believe in Frederick, Maryland. Married a Phoebe (last name unknown, but believed to be indian, possibly Cherokee) His father and mother could be either William Hill b/MD/1751, or Abraham Hill b/????. John and Phoebe had 7 children that I am aware of, as follows: William Armstrong . b/1824 MD, Harriet b/1826 MD, Ester/Esther b/1827 OH, Phoebe b/1830 OH, John b/1832 OH, Judith/Judy b/ 1834 OH, Sarah b/1840 OH. Around 1826/27 John Phoebe and his first two children plus I don't know who else moved to Guernsey County, Ohio. At some time John's son,William A., and family packed up and moved to Southern Iowa. And maybe some others of the Hill family ?? William Armstrong married Eliza Jane Schultz b/1824 in Fayette County, Penn. I bleive in Maryland 1842. William and Eliza had the following children: John b/1849, Thelma b/????, Thomas P. b.1851, Richard b/????, David Paterson b/1857 Robert Irvin b/1860, Martha Jane b/1862, William A, Jr. b/1864, Albert b/1868, Alva b/ 1877. Alva in 1897 first married Susannah Edler b/1877 Jefferson Co. Ia. Alva and Susannah had the following children: Clarence L. b/1898, Charles E.b/1901 Beatrice G. b/1903 Ellen P. b/1907, Harry G. b/1910, Hazel B. b/1916. Alva in 1922 second married Velma Chapman 1899 in Ottumwa, Ia. Children of Alva and Velma: Louis L. b/1924, Lawerance C. b/1927, Mary L. b/1930 Hubert F. b/1935 Harry G. in 1934 married Edith Esther Russell b/1912 Marilyn J. b/ 1933 brought into the marriage.
