Hi Peter, Re: Your HILL research in the UK I was wondering where in the UK your Hills come from? I'm looking for a Richard HILL born c1850's May have been born in the Worcestershire area. He was listed as being a Publican in 1904. Richard supposedly married a Louisa Jane Hillary c1880's. Louisa came from Bermondsey, in Surrey. Their son my Great Grandfather was William Richard HILL. I have not been able to establish his birth. W R HILL married a Sarah Anne Emily POPE on 13th November 1904 in Whittington, Worcester, England, UK. He gave his age as 22 when he got married in 1904. I have all of Sarah POPEs info going back to early 1500's Other children are Bertram Frederick Charles Hill born 1st May 1890 Florence HILL Abt February 1892 We think Louisa Jane HILLARY was Richards first wife. After having her first child William (a son) we think she died (date unknown) and then her husband Richard remarried. No other info known if that assumption is correct. With there being so many HILL males having either Richard or William Richard as their first names I'm having problems establishing who's who. If there is anyone doing HILL/HILLS research in the UK please come forward. I would love to hear from you all. On another line I have a Mary HILLS marrying a Thomas EDMEADES in Kent. Their Daughter Mary EDMEADES married a James DUST. Hello Hill List - I am new to this list, but have been researching my Hill family from Holmesfield, Derbyshire for about 2 years. My great great grandfather, Frederick William Hill, was a cordwainer and publican and owned the Angel Inn on Main Street in Holmesfield. It is still there today, although rebuilt. The joke is that it is right outside the churchyard. hence the name Angel Inn. Frederick Hills wife Sarah Pearson Hill and their 2 infant sons are buried in the churchyard. Their one surviving son, Anthony James Hill, lost his wife Martha Bamber from Pilsley after only a few years of marriage and emigrated to the US in early 1882. He married Bridget Walsh Hayes, a widow with many children, in Medina, Stutsman Co. ND in 1886 and my grandfather, Frederick William Hill, was born in 1887. Any Holmesfield Hills on the list?
